Royals win the toss and put the eagles into bat. out come JB and Slates. roobs opens the bowling and does well for 4 balls..... then oli has a great first over and so does Gazza. Jb is run out on 11 (thank goodness!) in comes the Cad. James Martin then gets rid of Slates (unfortunately from retirement with two sixes and a four!)well played Slates 28 not out. This brings in Eddie and he and the cad collect numerous 1s from the bat (and serveral 4s from the wides) untill Eddie is run out (7). in comes Mark who is happy to swing his bat. a great effort from wells-oi and Gazza in the last few overs  and the Eagles finnish on 111, mark (7) and the Cad (14). only 40 runs from wides....

out come the Royals with Roobs and Oli up first. Thankfully for the Royals Slates is not bowling as well as he batted and they survive the first over. JB however has a great first over with only 3 runs taken. Roobs and Oli stay for most of the overs, riding lots of luck and enjoying some wayward bowling untill roobs hits the roof (-5runs) and then runs out Oli (16), sorry about that, you had no chance! In comes Gazza and they run a six!(1 for the wall, 1 for the over throw and 4 run) Roobs is then run out (20)if only I had not hit the roof! in come James and smashes 11 quick runs to put us on target for a win. 6 runs required from the last over from Slates.... unfortunatley for Slates he bowles a wide (4) wich puts the Royals ahead, but then has a beautiful ball which blows the stumps apart. in comes  Wells-oi who blocks the last ball. Royals finnish on 116 and have victory.

what a great game to play in, very close again and lots of drama. Interesting to note that results for the second half have all been the opposite of the first half...come on you Tigers!

big thanks to the umpires and ryan for scoring.

Tigers Vs Mustangs  20th Jan.

Yet another eventful  ICL game.

Firstly a thank you to: Greeners for taking the time to come along and score for us, and Reuben and Eddie for umpiring, much appreciated. Also a thank you to the non playing members who came along to support the event, Bugmeister, Mick S, Russell and Laney.

Tigers win the toss and decide to field first.

Full commitment was shown by the Tigers in the field and great effort was made to keep the runs down. All bowlers bowled well, giving very little away.

The Mustangs batted well too. Mustang got his well deserved 26 playing some very hard strokes. Ian Bone on 18, Lawrence, Robbsy, Willis and Fitz played some great shots and batted well. A memorable moment was Willis hitting the ceiling twice in 2 consecutive balls!

End of Mustangs Innings – Total 80 runs for 5 wickets.

We start our Innings with The Lion No 1 and Simmo No 2, both get off to a slow careful start not wanting to lose wickets and eventually pick up the pace. Simmo reached 26 with The Lion on 23. Ryan is in next and bats well. The Lion then is out on 23, being bowled by Robbsy whilst trying to guide a straight ball into the off-side corner. Ali then came in to join Ryan on 16, both batted sensibly to see out the innings and win the match.
Tigers 88 for 1 in 12 overs.

27/01/12 Eagles Vs Tigers

Cad was the skipper for the Eagles and I was the skipper for the Tigers.

Cad won the coin toss and elected to field first. IT WAS ON!!! :pray

Tigers opened the batting with The Lion and Simmo. Both got off to a steady solid start, keeping out good bowling from the Eagles and running some very quick singles. Simmo accelerated his batting and his score rose quickly. He retired on 26. In went Ryan for a quick 14 but was caught by Hedger. In the mean time, Eagles were bowling well and their fielding was excellent. Unfortunately for them, some extras were starting to creep in here and there. A rock star was in the field too. I thought it was the lead singer from the epic band ‘Spinal Tap’ but I was informed later that it was actually Greeners with a blonde wig on :D

I went in at 4 and faced 2 deliveries from Barnsey. I was bowled trying to get a single from a good delivery. In went Mick at 5. Mick scored a couple of runs into the corners and taking singles with The Lion. The Lion was not out on 16.

End of Tigers innings – 130 for 2 with 68 extras.

Eagles went out to chase and started their innings with Greeners and Barnsey. Both got off to a steady start too. We opened the bowling with Simmo. Mick was WK for the evening and did a great job for a 1st effort. Well done Mick. Barnsey batted very well and hit the back wall too many times - he retired on 25. In strode Slates. Tigers tried to keep the fielding tight but it was not easy. Greeners was eventually run out by Alex. He hit a well struck 22 – JGS (Jolly Good Stuff) Greeners!! Slates also retired on a well deserved 25 – still couldn’t get him out!!!!!

Hedger, Cad and Mark Blackie punished good bowling too, well batted lads. Right near the end, if i remember correctly, Ian got out which meant a 10 run deduction because Greeners came back in. Shortly after, in the last over being bowled by me, Simmo caught another wicket on the back wall. This brought back Barnsey who wasn’t wearing a helmet – he meant business..... not good for us. Penultimate ball of the last over, i accidently bowled a full toss, Barnsey charged it and turned it marginally above waist height – a ‘no ball’ was given. Right, last ball, 7 required to win, no pressure............  I managed to bowl it straight, Barnsey struck it well but was fielded by Ryan. Tigers had won :yahoo

End of Eagles innings – 123 for 4 with 23 extras.

Well played to everyone on both sides and to the anonymous rock star that was hiding in the field. Big pat on the back to Barnsey – 41 not out! Well done!

Both teams played in good spirits and were very evenly matched on the night making it a really enjoyable game to play in. A close finish was definitely on the cards from the start.

Thanks Gurdy for making me skipper for the 3rd game in a row and for scoring on the evening, to Mustang for umpiring the whole game at one end, and to the others who came to watch. Much appreciated by all.

Finals night will interesting....... ;)

Excellent Report Chopper.

That is how it was; wigs and all!

It was the BEST match of the T'ment so far; cos men ran for runs.

Not standing on their bats at the non-strikers end.

Tradititional, old school, ICL.

GR8 to be a part of; and not an on looker.

Excellent Report.

last game before the final evrything to play for with the winners being in the top two!

bad news for the mustangs as they only have 4 players.... Mark takes a 30 run penalty and plays to give 5 players for the mustangs.(tight bowling and serious batting could still win the day)

Mustangs won the toss and put the Royals in to bat. Roobs and Oli open and get the runs flowing before Ollie (21) is bowled by James (great first overs by him and Lawrence). binnsy is up next but Roobs(24) is bowled by Lawrence. Mustangs are now looking to get through the batsmen and take advantage of some -10 runs. James M (25 Ret) follows but the mustangs cant get any more wickets, Binnsy (20 not) and Ben (3 not out?) finish the innings. with  46 Extras Royals finish on 139 for 2.  after adding the 30 run penalty because Mark played the Mustangs are set 170 to win.

Mustangs open with Mark (29 ret) and lawrence and show they mean to chase hard with some great batting including many 6s. after maark came Robbsy who also batted well for his 24 not out. Lawrence (26 Ret) leaves to alpplause. after giving away many extras in the first half of the innings, then the royals strike back. Oli picks up a wicket and Fitz is run out. mark comes back in the last over but the mustangs cant get the required runs and they finnish on a very respectable 142 for 2.

special mention to the Mustangs for putting in a great effort on the night and also to Ben who kept wicket for the first time ever and did a fantastic job. well done the rest of the Royals for keeping cool and not throwing it away.

The Scorer next fri will need 4 sheets pre-made otherwise he will be under the cosh.

I had to improvise last fri; however was always in control! except for 1 incident when Chin Music had scored 26 (retired) but the previous ball had cannoned into the ceiling! Minus 5.

A gr8 match to score on all the same. Well Done both teams.

The 3rd/4th place play off game was between the Mustangs and the Tigers. The Tigers winning the toss and as has been the fashion this season they elected to field first.
Alex and Lion took the first two overs but even though they were accurate Mustang struck three of his trademark blows to the back wall to give the Mustangs a good start. The third over of the Mustangs innings saw a much needed wicket for the Tigers when Simmo produced a lovely drifting yorker to Lawrence.
The more experienced of the King trio then came on to bowl and produced a lovely exhibition of accurate indoor bowling to put pressure on the Mustangs batters. This led to the run-out of Robbsy form a fine pick up and throw over the keeper by Alex.
Mark had retired for his well crafted 25 and at the crease for the Mustangs now was Ian intent on intimidating the younger Kings by wearing his Millwall shirt and smashing the orange ball at light speed to the back wall. The regulation 25 came up in double quick time which meant that we now had Jameand Fitz at the crease. Over the closing overs the Tigers turned the screw, minimal extras and good fielding saw the runs dry up. The Mustangs finished on 93.
The run chase started with Simmo and Alex manoeuvring the ball around nicely and with the Mustangs striving in vain for the breakthrough wicket. The runs flowed especially of the bat of Simmo who like the Tigers team plays far far better after Christmas. Simmo retires on 28 and Ryan is in at 3. Ryan takes over were Simmo has left off ably supported by Alex. Five runs short of retirement Ryan is out which ends a very good knock. The game now is to all intends and purposes won and it only needs Alex, Colin and myself to run the overs down with Tigers winning with a score of 120. Well played Tigers, thank to Roobs and Cad for umpiring and Greeners for scoring.

As a footnote it was very nice to see Dan at the game last night, even though he was on crutches. We can only hope that your rehabilitation goes according to plan and that we can see you fit and playing cricket in the not too distant future.

the final between the Egales and the Royals.

Cad wins the toss and puts the Royals in. Roobs and Gazza open but not for long as Roobs is run out (could of walked and made it because Greeners had missed the stumps) one cheap wicket to the Eagles. in comes Binsey who hits the roof! Gazza and Bins then put on some runs untill Gazza(24) is caught trying for the back wall.in comes James who starts hitting out and is caught by what looked like a great catch from Slates, but was not given by the umpires(unluck Slates) however he is soon bowled for 15. Oli walks in...and then out again as the Eagles pick up a run out! Wells-oi then trys to hit the ball but can only get 1's. as the last overs arrive Wells-oi is bowled by Barnesy and Binnsey Retires in come Roobs and Gazza each at -10runs! Gazza hits back with with a quick fire 16 and the Royals end on 119 for 5.

in go JB and Greeners and they get the runs flowing, JB retiring in no time at all! Slates then makes a start but is trapped LBW by Gazza (Royals now feel they have a chance) Greeners run rate drops as he can only pick up 1's but the Cad starts to push a few through (and the bowlers give a few extras...) With 2 overs to go and about 25 to win the Eagles pick up extas as James loses his line but none off the bat. Oli to bowl the last over 11 to win for the Eagles. Cad and Greeners each run of the first 2 balls then Oli strikes back Greeners caught by Wells-oi in comes Mark who gets a 3 which the Royals turn into 4 with an over throw! last ball 1 to win, Oli bowls a lovely ball which the Cad dabs down and sets off for the run, Roobs colects the ball and beats Mark to the stumps, a run out and the Royals win!

special mention to Oli who bowled the last over, it was a big ask and you gave the goods again top man!

thanks to Mustang and Ryan for umpiring and to Gurdy for scoring.

Excellent Roobs.

So Well Done!

Pity, NO photos available, to stamp your Championship.

you deserved that accolade; just like the 2 previous ICL Competitions' Winners....

The Club system "missed" that opportunity.
