The Eagles won the toss and elected to bat. Very glad as I only had 5 players so happy to chase.
The Eagles started ok with JB and Apple Crumble batting until a suicidial run was taken which started a trend of the innings. Jb and Cad made 25 and both rerired with the other batters all being run out in there first innings.
-5 came when the ball hit the ceiling a shock to some unaware of the new rule.
As the wickets fell so did the score with penalty points.
A great bowling and fielding display by the Bones fitz and Lawrence saw us chasing 66 to win.
Mustang and Lawrence opened with Mustang scoring 13 off the first over. It was a slow chase as no risks were taken no running for 2s.
Lawrence did get out on 21 as Greeners bowled him middle stump. Mustang retired and it left Dan and Fitz to see us home finishing on 112.
A good game all round.
Well done all

Roger that. Left arm over...
Thanks for the game all the same.
The ceiling is a clever one; but I did read the rules before thrashing it into it anyway. An awkward delivery.
That is the BEAUTY of ICL!!

having won the toss the Tigers went in to bat, with simmo and Alex looking to get some runs. two great overs from oli and james M held them back with only 6 runs conceeded. the pressure showed and a mix up from the batsmen lead to a run out. after some disscusion the umpires gave simmo out. in came gurdy full of intent sore some quick runs but he too was run out. alex and colin then tried to steady the boat but both departed, alex run out and coiln caught by steve off his own bowling, a great catch! Mike S then got some runs to great applause and Ali smashing a wonderfull 6 (the first of the eve). however they could not keep the scoreboard moving enough as Gazza bowled a maiden, and Roobs only bowled 2 wides from his overs. mike was stummped and simmo came back for the last over, smashing a 6 from the first ball. james then strayed and the tiger collected valuable runs taking 22 from the last over ending on 104.
the royals then came out to bat with out the need to take risks, from the balcony onlookers said Gazza and Binnsey would be a run out mayhem, no they will be fine says the captain......suddenly gazza and binnsey had run into each other while trying for a tight run! binnsey out! in goes ollie with extra orders to take it easy and then gazza is a gonner, run out! in comes roobs needing a captains innings to save the match which had swung in favour of the tigers. alex bowls a lovely ball which roobs plays all round, hears the stumps rattle and starts to walk. luck is on his side though as the ball came off the keepers pads and he is not out. roobs and oli then look to rebuild and take no risks, and ride their luck again as roobs blasts a ball which simmo gats his hands to on the back wall but can't hold it and six runs are given.after a few more swishes and smashes Roobs retires on 25 to bring in James, who seems to want to make up for his last over. James smashes some boundaries and the call comes to block out the last over which Oli does, great batting mate! the royals end on 125 and take a good first win.
top effort from all the Royals thanks and well done!
thanks to the tigers for a great game which had some good twists, and to the umpires, scoreer and crowed who came to watch.

Just because you hit the ball, you don't have to run.
Even my 10 year old son has been taught that.

After winning the toss the Royals were put into bat. Some sharp fielding, devastating bowling and indecisive running the Royals finished in 44. Special mention to the sEagles's slates who was amazing with the ball and outstanding in the field.
Under no pressure the sEagels surpassed the total without taking any runs between the wicket. Greeners was the lynch pin of the innings and carried his bat to the end. Cut Above and Slates both retired and Cad scored a few to finish off the innings. It wasn't all plain sailing though with Ollie Collins bowling very accurately and economically. Steve Collins deserves a special mention for his commitment in the field. I don't know the final batting total for the sEagles

Mustangs v Tigers
Mustangs win toss and bowl.
Ryan and Simmo come out to bat a dangerous pair.
A tight start from Ian B and Lawrence and Ian gets Simmo a slow ball hitting middle a great start. Lawrence gets Ryan trying to cut of middle.
With Gurdy at the crease he showed his experience and batted well for his 25. With some crazy run out we soon had them all out.
Hats off to Fitz who got Simmo second time a great stumping too.
A great fielding and bowling display lads.
So chasing 54 to win
Mustang got 7 before bowled by Alex. Lawrence batted through to the last ball for 24 Robbsy 7 What you talking about 3 and Ian 7 saw us home.
2 wins now a great team performance.
Bring on the Royals.
Great game alll and a great curry after

Eagles V Tigers
After losing the toss, we were put into bat by Gurdy, who obviously thought that the 1st innings hoodoo would strike again and we would collapse to a low score.
Greeners and Cad opened the batting and got off to a reasonable start before Greeners was caught off the wall chasing a wide one down leg.
JB went in to join Cad, who was out edging one that was well taken by Gurdy. Slates looked to have his eye in before being bowled by Simmo and is replaced by Eddie, who hung around until the end of the innings with Hedger who had come in to replace JB after he reached 25 and retired.
A total of 122 was reached and it was time to field.
Gurdy and Ryan M opened for the Tigers and got off to a great start, but the pressure soon began to build as the Eagles bowled and fielded as if their lives depended on it. Ryan retired, Gurdy and Colin were run out, Simmo was there at the end with Tony K, but they needed about 30 off the last over and fell short.
A great game and a special mention for Mike S who has come on leaps and bounds since joining us and bowled the best i've seen him.
Well done Mike.

Mustangs V Royals
having won the toss the Mustangs sent the Royals in to bat. Roobs and Gazza open with Roobs smashing some sixes early on but then falls to a good catch on the back wall. Oli comes in next but is soon caught(should of hit it harder!). next is Binnsy who does his best to scrape some runs but find it slow going as he picks out the feilders. Gazza plays some nice shots and retires on 25. in comes wells-oi who smashes a couple and is then bowled for 12, steve comes in for the last over with Binnsy run out on the last ball. Royals total 116, not quite as much as we had hoped thanks to the tight bowling and sharp feilding from the Mustangs, but a score that we felt we could defend.
In comes Mustang and Larence and runs from the bat are slow as they pick up singles. even with the extras the mustangs are behind on the run rate, but only just. thing are looking good for the Royals by half way, although the Mustangs still had not lost a wicket and were looking to push the run rate at any moment. Roobs then has a bad over(even his son shouts from the balcony "Dad dont give away all our runs!") Mustang starts to hit the ball and retires with 25 and in comes Dan who starts with a 6! larwnce falls on 17, bowled by Gazza and in comes Robbsy. the last over start and the Mustangs need only 9 runs for victory. Dan seems to have the measure of Oli as he smashes the first ball for 6 shortly followed by a 4 and a single and we are at the last ball. the Royals are looking at defeat, messages are shouted from the balcony, Dan smahes the last ball stright into the roof!(if we had been at Beeding it maywell have reached my house!) the umpire awards a 5 run penalty and the Royals have victory.
well played both teams it was a tight game and could have gone either way right to the last over.
Bring on the second half of the season!

Mustangs V Eagles
Eagles won the toss(there's a victory in itself )and put the Mustangs into bat in the hope that the first innings hoodoo would strike again.
The Eagles started with a player short after a couple of late arrivals and Mustang and Lawrence took advantage of this with some quick running moving the score along nicely for the first couple of overs before Slates nicked Mustangs off stump and it seemed to take ages for the bails to fall, but fall they did and off went Mark to be replaced by Block it Dan(i'm sure that Elton John sang a song about him).
Lawrence retired on 25 and in came "what you talkin bout" who was run out by a smart piece of fielding by Greeners.
Robbsy was the next batsman in and had lost his bat so came in with a pitching wedge that was put to good use in the final over hitting 2 consecutive balls up to the ceiling and costing the Mustangs 10 penalty runs.
Some tight bowling and sharp fielding restricted the Mustangs to 98.
A qiuck team talk by Eddie and in went Slates & Greeners with the words "no need to panic or do anything stupid" ringing in their ears only for Greeners to be ball watching as Slates took a run leaving Greeners about 10 foot short of his ground.
In goes JB and between them get the run rate going. A couple of loose overs(7 & 8)gives the Egles a chance of victory.JB is run out, so skipper Eddie joins Slates who soon reaches 25 and has to retire.
Mankini is the next one to the middle and is there at the end with Eddie as a 6 off the second to last ball gives the Eagls a 1 run lead, so Eddie lets the final ball hit his thigh and the victory is sealed.
A good close game that was a pleasure to take part in.
Well done to all involved including the umpires Gurdy & Ali and Russell for scoring.

Friday 6th - Bugalores Vs Royals.
Chopper won the toss with a call of ‘Tails’ and put the Royals into bat first.
Alex opened the bowling, Roobs and Joe opening the batting – it was on!!
Roobs batted a very rumbustious innings and got a well deserved 25. Royals batted well and it was around 6 overs in before the Tigers got their first wicket. My first over got two wickets (James M caught and bowled, Binnsy caught by Alex on the back wall) to make it a 2 wicket Maiden. All Tigers bowlers did well only giving away 29 extras and the fielding was tight too. I gave Mick S the eleventh over and he managed to get a wicket with me catching Ollie C on the back wall. Well done Mick!
Wells-oi batted well getting 28 retired (really went after me in my last over hitting 2 fours and 1 six), Ben S hit a great 6 and got 9 not out. Many thanks Ali for keeping Wicket, you did a great job.
Royals 100 for 3.
TEA BREAK!!! (Unfortunately, no female dancers with big pom-poms)
Alex and Ryan opened the batting with Ryan facing first. I was putting my pads on at the time when I heard a clatter of someone being bowled and seeing Ryan (one of my Star batsman) walking back early. Shame, was really hoping Ryan would get 25 this time. Ali went in at 3, there was some great running between Alex and Ali, well done. Ali’s wicket fell with me in at 4. Alex got his 25 with a bright innings. Mick S came in at 5. I called a run which I thought was there but wasn’t and unfortunately, Mick was run out at the bowlers end.
In came my No.6 – TK. The score was 56 on the 5th over in and things were looking grim for the Tigers.
Surprisingly, the Royals bowling started to go a bit wayward at times and the extras started to mount up. At the end of the 8th over (I think) the score was 97 for 4. I had a chat with TK and we decided not to take risks and play straight, losing a wicket would have been very costly. Not underestimating the Royals bowlers, we managed to see out the rest of the innings with a partnership of 59 runs, 44 of which were extras. TK got 5 not out, I got 10 not out.
Tigers won - 116 for 4.
Well played everyone on both sides.
There was some very athletic Keeping from Roobs behind the stumps, great job!
Many thanks again to Mustang and Eddie for Umpiring the whole game, was much appreciated.
Thanks Gurdy for scoring.
